Why we feature this artist
The quiet warmth inside a house record
Chris Malinchak’s music often makes a house beat feel like a private place. The vocal is softened, the harmony moves patiently and the rhythm leaves enough space for the small details to matter. “So Good to Me” is the clearest introduction, but the approach reaches beyond that single.
The early musical background
The Brooklyn producer’s own account describes a background in piano, bands and studio projects before he began concentrating on the music released under his own name. That musical history is audible in the way the chords and melodic fragments support the groove rather than merely decorate it.
“So Good to Me” emerged in 2012 and reached a much wider audience in 2013. A vocal drawn from Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s “If This World Were Mine” becomes part of a suspended, gently moving electronic setting. The source keeps its human grain while the production changes its distance and scale.
Giving the feeling time
Releases including “If U Got It” and the Hollywood EP offer other routes into the same interest in warmth, harmony and patient movement. The music is clear enough to catch quickly, but it does not force every idea into a large breakdown.
The longer mixes are especially useful for a first listen. Malinchak lets a small group of sounds establish a mood, then changes their relationship gradually. A familiar fragment can become newly moving when it has enough space around it, and that sense of proportion is the strongest thread through the catalogue.
