The story of Rita Ora Feat. Tinie Tempah
Why we feature this artist
R.I.P. as an opening statement
R.I.P. introduced Rita Ora’s lead recording identity with a strong sense of purpose. The vocal is set against a weighty electronic rhythm, and Tinie Tempah’s guest passage adds a second kind of assurance. The song presents change as something already decided, with the performance doing as much of that work as the title.
The 2012 Roc Nation single
The collaboration appeared through Roc Nation in 2012 and reached number one in Britain. It became part of Ora’s debut album, ORA, placing a new singer’s public introduction beside an already familiar British rap voice. Tinie’s presence gives the single another point of recognition while leaving Ora’s sung refrain in charge.
The production feels deliberately substantial. Low-end weight and sharply marked rhythmic accents create a firm setting for the vocal, while the melodic line provides a clearer, more sustained movement above it. Ora can push into the chorus without having to make every verse equally forceful.
The feature inside the song
Tinie’s entrance changes the density of the phrasing. His rap can move through the beat at a different pace from the sung line, giving the arrangement another texture before the refrain re-establishes its principal shape. The contrast is useful because it makes the returning chorus feel like a decision being stated again.
The original video reinforces the recording’s direct physical character through performance and a large industrial-looking space. As part of the debut campaign, R.I.P. had the practical task of making a new lead voice memorable very quickly. It succeeds by giving Ora a clear melodic position and using the guest performance to strengthen the surrounding frame rather than displace her.
