Why we feature this artist
Low brass figures inside a carefully paced club track
Ten Walls' early recordings found an immediately recognisable electronic voice in low, rounded melodic figures that could suggest brass or woodwind. The tracks moved patiently, giving a small musical idea time to become an atmosphere. Gotham and Walking with Elephants made that approach familiar before the Lithuanian producer expanded the project into a much larger album setting.
The early EPs
Ten Walls is a recording name used by Marijus Adomaitis, who had also worked as Mario Basanov. Gotham appeared through Innervisions in 2013, followed by Requiem on Life and Death. The productions used a strong sense of instrumental character, letting a bass-register melody become more than a support for the beat.
Walking with Elephants followed in 2014 and became the most widely recognised recording. Its appeal depends on patience as well as the principal figure: the arrangement allows the listener to become familiar with a sound, then changes the pressure and space around it. The record can feel expansive without requiring a large number of competing musical parts.
The interruption and the album
His rise was interrupted in 2015 by homophobic public comments, cancelled festival bookings and a subsequent apology. The later Queen album, released in 2017 through Runemark, expanded the recorded setting considerably. Its twenty-four tracks included guest musicians and vocal contributions, placing shorter passages and more extended pieces within the same sequence.
The album format revealed a different problem from a successful twelve-inch: how to sustain an instrumental identity when the listener is no longer waiting for one recognisable club moment. The early EPs remain the clearest introduction to the sound, while Queen gives that vocabulary more room to change scale. Heard across both, the distinctive element is the treatment of a melodic timbre as the principal character in the arrangement.
